License suspension periods in North Carolina increase with each DWI within the lookback period:
First offense: 1 year; hardship: limited driving privilege generally available (after 10 days if 0.15+ w/ interlock... conditions vary)
Second offense: 4 years (second within 3 years) – 4 years; hardship: conditional restoration possible after 2 years with interlock
Third offense: permanent revocation (third offense w/ priors within 5 years) – permanent; hardship: restoration petition possible after years — narrow; verify at page QC
Refusing the chemical test
1-year revocation for refusal (civil, via DMV), limited driving privilege possible only after 6 months. Refusal is admissible at trial.
