About DUI Laws by State

DUI Laws by State explains DUI and DWI laws in plain English for every state — penalties, fines, license suspension, and interlock rules — with citations to the underlying statutes and a last-reviewed date on every page.

Why this site exists

Search any state plus “DUI penalties” and you get pages that copy each other, cite nothing, and can’t tell you when they were last checked. Several will confidently state a number the legislature changed years ago. That’s a bad way to learn what you’re facing.

So this site does the unglamorous version: read the statute, publish the range, cite the section, date the page, and leave out any state we haven’t finished verifying. Right now that’s 44 of 50 states.

How the content is made

Every figure traces to the statute text on a legislature’s own site or to an official state agency, confirmed by a second official source, and carries the date it was checked. The full method — including how research is done, how we handle conflicts between sources, and how to report an error — is in our editorial policy.

How it’s paid for

Advertising, including attorney advertising and affiliate links, which is why the site is free to read. No advertiser has any influence over what we publish. The details are in our advertising disclosures.

Who’s behind it

DUI Laws by State is operated by MJ Strategies LLC, based in Massachusetts. We are not a law firm, we don’t give legal advice, and we’re not a lawyer referral service — we publish legal information.

Corrections and contact

Found something that looks wrong or out of date? Tell us and we’ll check it against the statute: support@duilawsbystate.com. Corrections are welcome — they make the site better at the one thing it’s for.

Some links on this site are paid advertising and we may be compensated when you use them. Advertising never affects which statutes or penalties we report — how this site makes money.
