SB 1046 (statewide since Jan 1 2019, VC § 23575.3): repeat offenders and injury-DUI first offenders must install an IID (6 mo first-with-injury, 12 mo second, 24 mo third, 36 mo fourth+) in exchange for immediate full driving privileges; non-injury first offenders may choose 6-month IID or a 12-month restricted license.
By offense
First offense: IID not required at this level — Optional on a first non-injury offense: install IID 6 months and keep unrestricted driving; mandatory 6 months on first DUI with injury.
Second offense: IID required
Third offense: IID required
Fourth+ offense: IID required
